The way to pay for the return shipping is to either:
- Determine the cost of the shipping and then send the amount to the customer.
- Deduct the amount of the shipping from the customers refund.
- Use the shipping carrier's return services. For example, USPS has a return service for small and large business's that's located at https://www.usps.com/business/return-services.htm. I'd recommend contacting the shipping carrier before you list or sell an item.
- Pay for the return shipping, as if you would pay for regular shipping, and send the documents to the customer. You can do that by contacting your preferred shipping carrier.
Of course, these are the most common ways for a merchant to pay for return shipping.
