PayPal Here Reader

Hi I have a PayPal business account and use the reader to collect card payments. It has stopped working recently, the blue light flashes rapidly when I switch it on. If I then try the factory reset I get the green triangle flashing with one asterisk lit but my mobile phone won't pair with it whatever I try. When I try to connect and fail the reader then reverts back to the rapidly flashing Bluetooth light. I have a large trade fair next weekend and I'm hoping to sort the problem by then if I can. What does the disply show when you turn it on?

Are you Android or iOS?

What smart device are you using?

Have you uninstalled and then re-installed the app on your phone?

More specifics are needed as to exactly what you are doing on the phone for the error and what text shows on the device?

I have the chip card reader and have used it a lot with Android phone and tablet.  There are periodic connectivity issues after the device goes to sleep; this is a know issue with PayPal.

You could also call PayPal customer service and make sure you reach a PayPal Here specialist.  They are quite knowedgeable.

The Bluetooth light flashes when I turn on the reader, it doesn't have a display and so nothing to read. I am using an iPhone 4s and I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the App. When I try to charge a transaction to a card my phone just says PayPal reader not switched on or out of range. I will try getting hold of a PayPal here specialist at PayPal. Many thanks.

I didn't know there was a PayPal bluetooth card reader without a display.  The one I have is the chip card reader and it has a display and buttons.

Spoke to PayPal Here Helpline and managed to get it sorted. I needed a factory reset on the reader and also I needed to 'forget' the device in my iPhone settings, uninstall the app and then the app went through a 7 part update, all good now. Cheers
