Why are my payments going through as eChecks instead of as Instant Payments?

Whenever I try to use Pay Pal to send money to a friend using my linked (and verified) checking account as the payment source, the payment takes over a week to go through. Apparently, it's going through as an "eCheck" payment.

Yes, I have a confirmed credit card linked to my account. Yes, my linked checking account is confirmed. Yes, I'm in the United States and so is the payee. And yes, I'm selecting my bank account as the payment source.

So why no Instant Payments?

(The Pay Pal support people have been worse than useless in troubleshooting this. After EIGHT totally off-target replies from them, I'm giving this forum a try.)

That is a mystery as you seem to have everything setup properly - an Instant Transfer also requires a backup funding source such as a credit or debit card registered on your PayPal account which in this case, you should be good.   Unfortunately as this is a public community, no one here can look into user account info.  Only thing  I can think of would be if your credit card on file has expired, but I'm sure you have checked that too.

Nope, not expired. I even tried changing to a different credit card and verifying that. Still only eChecks.

I tried asking Pay Pal support. So far, I've gotten eight useless, not-quite-on-topic responses from them. They don't seem to care, or perhaps they care but just cannot really read.

That's sad.   Perhaps someone else from community has some thoughts.

Never mind.  To everybody else: Don't bother responding.  After getting two more irrelevant replies from Pay Pal support (including one very snarky one) -- this makes 10 (TEN!!!!!) back-and-forths, with no actual answer anywhere.

I'm closing my Pay Pal account.  This is just not worth the trouble.
