Unauthorized Charges $6,000 worth

Hi,

I noticed that my bank account was down and an immense amount of money is missing. I did some research on my online bank account transactions and it’s amazing how many say PayPal. These transactions are not showing up in my PayPal history, as I’ve only used PayPal once in many years. I spoke to a really helpful representative and I saw that if you check out as a guest, it Sometimes will say PayPal on your statement, which is still weird to me. I check out as a guest all the time and never have I seen PayPal on my statement. However, only two that I went over with him were in fact guest checkouts. He didn’t see any of the other transactions on my account either, which had us both puzzled. Those guest checkouts only account for about $70, so I am pretty much still questioning where the remaining money went. I went through each transaction with him. He said that someone could have made a fake account and had my card hacked by using a device to read my card information. I’m going to also go to the bank tomorrow to discuss this and get a new card. Has this happened to anyone else??? A loss of $6000 is not an easy thing to accept.

I just looked at my bank account online this morning and there was a charge with PAYPAL*LISA <removed> CAUS description for $800+. I contacted my bank first and have to dispute it, and then contacted PayPal and the rep mentioned to me that since there were no transactions listed with my paypal account (since 2016 mind you) that my card info was most likely stolen (where/when/how I'm not sure yet) and the person bought an Apple Ipad from ebay. The paypal rep also let me know the name and address the transaction was made under. I will be heading to the bank this afternoon to expedite the dispute and probably have to get the police involved to figure out what to do about this person who is actually local to me and try to help prevent this from happening to others in my area. People are just pathetic these days. Hope you get your money back promptly.
