I just used paypal for the first time to make a purchase on ebay.

The seller was a name say "john" but the payment went to "sue."  I just made up these names as an illustration.

ebay confired the order and everything seems OK.

Is this normal for for different seller names?

It happens and I wouldn't be too concerned.  Some people use there parents, girlfriends, siblings or friends account to accept a payment from time to time.  Back in the day PP was notorious for limiting accounts and seizing funds without real reason other than suspicion or because they could.  At the time they were large enough that the hemorage of customers didn't hurt them in the least but over time it caught up with them and as such  you will see issues where some memebrs will use another account to accept a payment due to issues in the past for whatever reason they may have occured.

Long winded but having been a member of PP since the first year they opened and having run into the issues above more than once I can speak from personal experience though accepting payments via PayPal is simply something I won't do except in rare occassion.
