PayPal Security Telephone verification

Periodically, when I sign-in I am met with statement PayPal needs to verify me.  Since June whenever I go to pay with PayPal I get hit with Security Check.  No, I haven't been hacked.  It will ask me to verify my acct by my phone number.  It ask if I want a security code via Text or Call then it ask me to put my number, (which by the way is already on my PP Page).  A message comes up and says the system does not recognize this as my number.

 

In order to get to PP to contact a Rep I have to go and request to change pswd.  I have changed pswds approx 12 times in the past 14 days.  (this means the system is doubly on guard) I have spoken to at least 8 different Cust Reps, Superviors, Security and Software/Hardware folks about this without success.  More than that in the past month.  If I am rambling it is because I am tired and frustrated.  PayPal says my phone is pre-paid and in order to verify I need a contract phone. 

 

Anyone had similar problem where it was resolved other than adding a new bill for a new phone I don't want or need?
