Linking a one time use credit card account number

I understand that Paypal has discontinued the ability to generate a one time use card number. However, I am trying to link my Paypal account to a one time use credit card account number not generated by Paypal, but by my credit card company. Paypal doesn't seem to want to accept the card number for linking. Does anyone on this forum have experiance is accomplishing this? The main reason I want to temporally link to a virtual account number is added security when purchasing from a forien country on the web. I would think that by limiting the purchase amount to only the value of the sale, and by limiting the access to my Paypay account to just that one time account number, would keep the possibility of something going "wrong" with the payment.

Well, I certanly feel foolish... After trying it again I discovered that when pasting the virtual account number, spaces are added (for readability, no doubt). After eliminating that additional spaces, the card is immeditely recognized and is easily linked. Problem solved.
