How do I get Paypal to give me my money back?

I ordered something online a week ago and paid using my paypal balance funds. Two hours later I cancelled the order with the merchant. The merchant verified the order is cancelled. Paypal still is holding my money in the PENDING TRANSACTION section. I called Paypal. They said as soon as merchant cancels I will get it back. I told them Merchant did cancel it. They then said I would have to wait 30 days for the pending status to "fall out". Then after that, I can file a dispute. What the ?@#$@#$??? How do I get paypal to refund my money without holding it hostage for 30 days and getting interest off of it? This is ridiculous.

does the vendor have any proof he did cancel the order?

why do you place an order and 2 hours later cancel it?

This was a Christmas gift and I was told someone else had already purchased the item. Yes, the order is cancelled in the system by the vendor. Paypal also suggested the vendor call them and tell them it was really cancelled. Seriously??

my hunch is that it takes 3-7 days,up to 30 days to see a refund,like credit card transaction.

but instead of crediting your credit card account,it will show up in your paypal account.
