Cash Back Bonus Much Lower This Month

Good morning.  I use my Paypal Business Debit Card for almost everything so I get the cash back bonus.  I saw on my paypal account this morning that the cash back bonus has already been credited to my account.  For years and years it would always show up on my account around the 3rd or 4th of the month.  Also my bonus amount was probably 75% lower than it usually it as I spend roughly the same amount on the card every month, at the same places.  I got a cash back bonus of $3.96 this month I used the card for way more than $396 worth of stuff.

Did anybody else notice anything this month.  I think it's odd that all of a sudden I got the bonus on the first of the month and the amount is way off from what it usually is.  Only difference is maybe a week or so ago I got the new debit card with the chip but I've only done ONE pin purchase.

TIA

I got a reply/explaination from PayPal.  I'm guess you guys activated your new card too??

Hello Xxxxxxx Xxxxxxx,

Thank you for contacting PayPal Debit Card. My name is John, and I understand you have a question on Cash Back.

I can explain what happened. It looks like you activated a new chip card on October 25th, the amount you received is for that chip card. October 25th-31st equaled the $3.96 you received on November 1st.

Your old magnetic strip card calculations from October 1st-25th will be deposited into your PayPal account between the 4th-5th of November as a separate credit.

I apologize for confusion this has caused. Going forward your new payout date for cash back will be the first of each month.

Thank you again for your contact. I am glad I was able to help resolve your inquiry. If you have additional questions, visit our Help Center at https://www.paypal.com/selfhelp/home.

Sincerely,
John

Yes - I spent over $3000 and only received $10.  I'm calling customer service tonight.

Please let us know how you make out.  I contacted them via the email form on the website but that usually takes a day or two to hear back from them.

Thx!

I average over 30 dollars cash back every month and only got 9. I pulled my statement for the last month and spent 3207.36 in debit card purchases so something is definitely wrong.

Yes, but that new chip card can only be used as a signature card at some places.  Many face to face merchants will not even take the card unless you have a pin, and if you use a pin you HAVE to already have money sitting in your Paypal account, since your available balance is the only funds accessible using your pin.  AND even if you do have money sitting in your paypal account you will NOT get cashback.  Sneaky, Paypal.  How about you address that issue since we're talking about cashback!! ??

This is not true. I don't know how your PayPal account is set up but I have never had to have money in PayPal to use the pin. I have used the pin several times for cash back with either card and it's never declined me. It just pulls from my checking account the next day. I have not been forced to use a pin with the chip card yet. If it comes up on the screen to enter pin only I just hit cancel and it then asks what I want to do and I select credit. If someone is telling you otherwise I suspect they are lying to you, uneducated on their store policy, not trained correctly to take payments or it is a unique policy for that merchant and not a flaw in PayPal. I want to add that I use my PayPal card for 100% of my transactions several times a day online and in face to face purchases. My daughter has my 2nd card and she has not had any of the issues you mention either.
