Cancelled money I sent via Email and bank account was still debited for the amount!!!

I sent my son a birthday present of money via Paypal. Unfortuntately I sent it to his wrong email (He has an email that is associated with Paypal).  I Cancelled the sent money yesterday Aug 2- and my son did not get this money (since I cancelled it).

I then resent the money to the correct email (this my son did receive).

Result: I have now two debits for $300 on my bank account.  You can imagine this does not help me.  I checked and the cancelled money sent is listed as REFUND.  But I am still out the money.

1. Since first $300 sendmoney request was  cancelled immediately and my son did not receive the money, why was my bank account debited for $300.

2. How long will it take for the "refund" to show up in my bank.  Would be nice if it showed up as fast as they took it.  sigh.

When you pay someone (normally a seller) it is never instant > paypal credit them for you and then start the process of uploading your funds to paypal from your funding source.

So when you cancel that payment those funds can't do a u-turn > they have to process through to paypal who will then either return them to your funding source (if you paid with a debit or credit card), or credit your paypal balance (if it was funded from your balance or instant bank transfer), but that takes a few days and sometimes up to a week.
