Hello Community,
I was scammed by a real artist.... Advertised an item, was contacted. Had all the right info... great looking PayPal logo. Gave me an address to send item to. Claimed to have sent the money. Fake Paypal email saying the the money was recieved, and waiting for item to be accepted. And then the wammy!!! Buyer vanished. FB messages vanished. I have he address it was sent to, and the "name" of the recipient. I'm sure its fake. Ever have this happen? Any recourse?
Thanks.

It happens a lot to sellers who don't understand PayPal services.
You shipped an item without payment. There is no recourse thorugh PayPal as PayPal was not used for payment
You need to check your PayPal account and transaction details before you ship anything; never rely on fake emails.

I was pretty much expecting this response. Just had to ask. First time I've been burned, selling an item. Thanks for answering.

Just read the forums every day for a month. You might be surprised at how many buyers fall for various scams when it would have been so easy to avoid. So many new buyers think they are experts and expect PayPal to protect them from their own lack of good judgement.
If only there were a way to educate them before they lost money.... If only there were a way to get people to read policies before engaging in PayPal transactions...
Perhaps you could be one now to help others avoid such simple traps.

I'd just rather be the guy that caught it, BEFORE being scammed!
It's only after, that the red flags showed up.
Oh well, ya live and learn.
