payments from buyers

How long should I wait for a buyer to pay for his or her purchase before I take any further action? The auction ended yesterday, the buyer only has one transaction in their history, and there has been no response to emails sent to them at all.

Hi there!

This is really a personal preference, but when I sold actively on eBay, I usually allowed my buyers three or four days (depending on what day they won, is it a holiday, etc) before I sent a gentle reminder.  I believe eBay will send them a reminder as well, so keep in mind you may be double pinging them.  It's always a fine line between nudging them into completing the payment versus creating a poor experience, so proceed with diplomacy Smiley Happy

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply--the situation I was referring to is solved-my gut feeling was that the buyer was not going to pay for the item and I canceled his transaction after I sent out a second chance offer to the #2 bidder. Turns out the winning bidder (deadbeat) didn't have any money anyway.

That's unfortunate, but it sounds like you found another purchaser.  I'm glad it all worked out for you!
