i am going through a divorce and would like to delete my current account but keep transaction file. is there a way to do this?

Unfortunally you can only close accounts, they cannot be deleted.
Before you close your account, make sure you remove your bank account, credit card, etc. Also ensure that you have no outstanding transactions or open disputes and/or claims, else you can't close the account.
As for your account transaction history - your only option is export (download) your transaction records to a CSV file. You can then retain this file locally (on your computer) and use an app like Excel to sort and manage.
