Hi

I received a text suppossedly from Paypal stating that an amount of 320.12 was going to be taken from my acount by a company called Webact Limited.  I foolishly clicked on the link and completed all the details, including bank details before I realised that it was not from Paypal.  I have now blocked my bank card, credit cards  etc.  Is there anything else I need to do.  i have also contacted Paypal too. I feel such a fool as they now have my dob , home address etc.  Can they use this for an identity fraud or are they just after my bank account and money ??

thanks for any information you can give.

If you recieved this text or email scam, this is not from WebAct. They have recieved thousands of email and phone calls from concerned parties about the text or email. Here is the letter from the CEO about the problem. LETTER WEBACT CEO. This has nothing to do with WebAct, this is a text and email scam and they a pretending that they are PayPal. I can insure you that this is not from PayPal or WebAct. We do apoligize to all that have been affected.

From WebAct

Now I like to think that I'm pretty scam savvy, but having been the victim of an attempted on-line credit card fraud a couple of months ago, I clicked on the link and signed in. What now?

Hi Folks.

I have received a text supposedly from paypal saying I have sent a payment of 320.12 GBP to Webact and if I didn't to click on this link to cancel,  htpps://tr.im/GNdek.  Can I assume this is a scam?

Many thanks for your help as cannot get through to paypal due to long queues.

Re: WebAct. I stupidly logged on, entered my address and dob which took me to a bank details page to varify my bank account. That is where I stopped realising it hasn't directed me to my PayPal account. So these scammers have my address and dob, should I be worried???

Had exact same message today, but didn't enter details. Seems very much like the bogus HMRC alleged tax refund scam from a while back. Shame my Mr Number blocking app doesn't help block such bogus texts 😞

I just got the same txt message:

Dear Graeme, You sent a payment for 320.12 GBP to WebAct Limited. If you didn't authenticate this transaction click here to cancel - Then an https link that precedes the paypal login url to capture your details if you login.

TXT SCAM

Dirty scammers.

Hi, I got the same text, clicked the link, filled in the details but didn't submit the info. The login details for PayPal that I used were wrong but my address was correct. Should I be concerned / do something?
