Transferring US funds to US account in Canada, having issues

Hey all!

I get paid in US funds, and since I plan to be traveling to the US, I wanted a way to keep some money in USD therefore I don't have to pay the conversion fee twice.

I set up a USD savings account with Scotiabank. However, Paypal is still only giving me the option to convert that money to CAD before transferring. It won't allow me to keep it in US funds. What am I doing wrong?

I'm having the same problem - I have a US$ account at the Bank of Montreal but PayPal insists on converting US$ to CDN$ before transferring (for a fee). I don't have any problem transferring US$ to the same account using STRIPE - why is PayPal different?

Suprised there isn't a quick answer to this - it must be a common problem.

I've done plenty of research and many of these questions go unanswered. Not once have I seen an answer from Paypal :/.

The only solution that seems to work requires setting up banking with RBC. http://travelblogbreakthrough.com/canadian-paypal-users-transfer-usd-bank/
