Sandbox shopping cart test is not sending email...why?

I am testing my shopping cart before I launch a site, using the PayPal Sandbox. I have it set up properly, since I get through to the last page thanking me for my purchase and "an email has been sent to your address" to verify the purchase.
However, the conformation emails are never received and wondering what I have done wrong. I did enter my IPN number to receive email notification updates, so am curious as to what I need to do to successfully re-test the system. Thank you.

It happens. Hit the "Login to Ask the community" button to create a question for the PayPal community.
