Paypal cancelled my request for "suspicious activity" why do I have the SMS security then?

I billed a customer for a hearing aid repair, been doing it for years. Love the security of the SMS call back. But I send a request and get paid for the service, then Paypal takes the money back? What would trigger this? Now I need to hope the customer will pay-again. Makes me kinda nervous about trusting Paypal with any kind of account balance. Here is the Paypal email and then says to click the contact link that seems to lead here. Is the forum the extent of the customer service that we pay for on every transaction?

PayPal Payment Review helps you lower risk and reduce loss by alerting you to potentially problematic transactions.
We've completed our review of the transaction below and found the payment may not be authorized by the PayPal account holder or may be the result of suspicious activity. As a result, we’ve cancelled this transaction.

There are times when PayPal's automated security is a bit wacked.  You can always call customer support for an explanation but most likely, they don't have answers any better than our speculative guesses.  There are alternative services as you do have a choice.  For example, we use PayPal for some of our requirements and Square for other tasks.  Square works well for transactions in person and over the phone.  They have a new shopping cart setup but, it's not very flexible and a bit limited in scope.  Square's main feature is that your money goes directly into your bank account.  The bottom line is don't put all your eggs in one basket, there are options.

Hi Showshoe,

I really appreciate services like Paypal, hate to imagine accepting only checks, but why not default to HOLD?,  then SMS the questionable transaction to the parties since this is required for ALL paypal access anyways? It is automated anyhow. The other services are fine, will do some research on them.

I still have not heard anything from Paypal, I told my customer that they are having security issues and to give them a day to try resending the payment.

Thanks for the options.

Bruce
