Payment Sent but Temp Hold Placed?

So I placed an order for a wig for a costume. I had enough money in my account, it's the item I wanted, there weren't any errors while purchasing, etc. It seemed like it would be perfectly fine. I placed the order on July 4th. It's now the 7th and it says that there is a temporary hold on the funds.

What gives? I've never had this problem with Paypal before. I looked around and it said it might be because I've never made a purchase that large before but I made a payment for fabric of a smiliar price just yesterday and the payment went through just fine!

How long am I going to have to wait for this hold to be lifted so that I can get my item? I'm a bit annoyed, to be honest.

I did check the FAQs and it said it might be because the seller is new/has many disputes/etc. but I know for a fact that the company I purchased from is incredibly reliable and there are very few complaints/errors. So if the hold on my payment could be lifted, I'd really appreciate it.

I am having the same issue today. I am the seller. The buyer has paid but the message is saying their is a hold on the money until I send a $450 delivery fee through western union.

That sounds like a scam... PayPal does not require anyone to send money through Western Union.

Where are you seeing this temporary hold message, and... what is the exact text of the message?
