PayPal <here> Mobile Swip and App

I go the PayPal <here> Mobile Swap and App and wanted to do a test transaction so my wife and I knew how to use it (comes with NO directions)

We were going to charge our Credit Card $50.00 to verify how everything worked.

Well we kept swipping the card in the wrong direction (there is NO indication on which way to swipe the card)

As we were doing the 3rd swap my finger hit the 4 key and instead of charging us $50.00 it charged us $500.04

ONCE the card is swapped it wants someone to sign, BUT there is NO way to CANCEL the transaction or change the money amount.

I COULD NOT Believe there was NO way to cancel this transaction once the card was swipped.  If something like this was to happen with a customer, I would be forced to charge them this amount and then refund there money where I would get stuck for the transaction fees.  What would happen if this MAXed out the customers CC until the refund was processed?  I am sure they would not be happy with that.

If I swapped a customers card and right after I did the swap they said they changed their minds.  Excuse me, I have to charge you anyway?  WOW, I am sure that would go over big.

UNTIL a customer actually signs there should be someway to cancel or change the transaction.

IS THERE A FIX FOR THIS?

Don't think that this just a PayPal thing - Square works the same way ..... you first enter the amount, then swipe ... there's no "do over" function.

You do have options.  There are other systems if you're uncomfortable with what you have experienced.   For example, I have a wireless terminal from my bank - you have to swipe the card first, then enter the amount and last, press the enter key.

Thanks for the reply.

Two wrongs don't make it right.  Just because Square does it this way.  I think this needs to be fixed.

I just find it weird that I swipe my customers card (they haven't signed) and they say I changed my mind I do not want this item or I want a cheaper or more expensive item...

What do I say "Sorry, I have to charge you this amount and then make a change to charge the rest of issue a refund."???

What happens if they were to refuse signing?  Put the Item down and walk away?

How do I get out of the screen?  To process something for a different customer?

Can I reboot the phone or Kill the app and not have the transaction go thru?  OR has it happened once the swipe happens?

I like the bank idea will have to look into it.

You're only option is to cancel the transaction and refund.

And you should check out what your local bank has to offer.
