Decline but still pending

I used my credit card to purchase an item for $313 and the next day I received an email from PayPal saying my payment had declined but when I check my bank statement it was still pending and i login to my PayPal and it's says nothing about my payment being declined. I have plenty of money on my credit card so I don't know why it declined but I want to know if it has really declined so i can pay the business the money I owe them as I need the product within 2 days

It sounds like your payment may have been bank account funded and your bank account didn't have sufficient funds.  What was the exact text (minus personal information) of the PayPal email message?

 

Was your payment bank account funded or credit card funded?

You recently tried to pay with PayPal but the transaction was declined because your credit or debit card provider did not allow it to go through. I used my credit card and i had enough credit on it to buy the product.

If I got that message, I would be calling my credit card issuer.

I dont have any locks on my card and i can't think of anything else that would make it declined. I'll call them tomorrow

They had a 24/7 number and I called them and the transaction approved it never declined and the PayPal email look very real
