Yes scam ... the good news is you have recognized what is going on.  Seems many cannot and then blame PayPal.

Hello, I also just got a response from a craigslisting, although I put my phone number in the add so I received a text in response to my add. I spoke to this man by the name BUCK  he stated he was from Mas and was a enginer in the Marines. He was wanting to buy my JIMMY for his son as a surprise gift.  In a total of 30 minutes he wanted my vehicle, sight unseen, knowing the title was lost  and had to be filed fort which would take 2 weeks to get back, and it having trans issues. He stated since he was out on the boat and could not pick it up himself he would arrange for a "AGENT" to pick it up for him sometime before 1 on Monday. He required that I have a paypal account to get payment which  he was also sending the 500 extra and I needed to send that via money transfer to his agent. I stated that I could do that and so within 5 minutes I had a email from Paypal stating the 2000 was in my account and I was looking over the receipt and it gave me instructions to send the money to the agent and when the email to the the paypal representative looking over this transaction had received confromation to the money being sent the funds would be released.....that was the second thing the whole thing made me step back and say this aint right.
