PayPal receipt shows shipping address that I've never lived at or have in EBay or PayPal Profile

Hi,

I have a very strange issue. I purchased something on Ebay last night and used PayPal. My profiles contained my mailing address that I've been at five years (from Canada). When I confirmed the payment, I was sent a receipt by PayPal, and I noted that there is Kentucky shipping address on there. What is going on? I am not American, nor have I ever been to Kentucky. I emailed the seller right away, but she didn't see it and sent the package there. What is going on? This address is nowhere to be found in any profile. Is it a system glitch or has someone broken into my account? What is my recourse here? How did this happen? I've emailed PayPal and also changed my account password/questions. Help!!!

I have just experienced the same issue... Has someone from PayPal gotten back to you?

What you probably experienced was that you purchased an item that the seller enrolled in the Global Shipping Program.

What this means is that, the seller can ship the item to Pitney Bowes International centre in Kentucky to process customs, then Pitney Bowes will pass the item over the boarder to Canada Post. From there Canada Post will ship the item directly to you.

If your tracking number looks like this UPAAB0000000XXXXXXXX, then you are using the GSP.

For more information about the GSP, click here.

Hi,

Yes, the same thing happened to me on 29/10/2014. I live in Australia and I made a NON EBAY Paypal purchase to a US cosmetics company. During the transaction this Kentucky address flashed up first and I clicked on thinking it was one of my to US shipping addresses. But it was not and didn't show up in my list of authorised addresses. I thought hackers had hijacked my account but as it turns it is was PAYPAL!!!  When I checked the address it turned out to be a Ebay customer hub address. Remember, my transaction was not with Ebay. When I rang customer service they refused to acknowledge that the mistake was caused by them. YES I KNOW I DID THE WRONG THING CLICKING THE ADDRESS, but when you only use your US addresses every 6 months or so then it's an easy mistake to make. The bigger problem is WHY does this phantom address present itself as an option in the first place, given it has nothing to do with Ebay and I have never manually typed this address EVER. The customer service officer said it was used in one my transactions a few months before. OK YES but this would have been something I bought on Ebay in the US and was being sent directly to me in Australia. Again, I don't need to know this address because it is a hub Ebay sends its international parcels via.

The full address is:

1850 Airport Exchange Blvd #200
Erlanger, KY 41025
USA

I would just like Paypal to acknowledge the problem is with them and to take steps to fix it, instead of just saying YOU shouldn't have clicked on it!!!

Regards

Nik
