Transfer of Funds and Online Payment Question

Hi there, 

I think it would be best to explain my question in steps. 

1) I transferred $3,082 CAD from my bank account to my PayPal account

2) After the transfer cleared (6-8 days) I purchased a camera and gear off Adorama for $3,085 USD 

3) My balance went to $0, and the Adorama purchase is still labled as pending in my transactions. 

Is it simply a waiting game? Why did my account balance go to $0 if there would be a positive amount left after currency conversion?
