paypal blocked me from receiving on ebay as requesting my SSN

paypal blocked me on ebay as requesting my SSN, yet I have nowhere near $20k in sales, or even the 200 selling transactions. any ideas? I'm slowly unloading household items from my own home/storage since we moved and now downsizing/relocating

You are selling items.  Your account will show gross receipts.  PayPal needs your SSN in order for you to continue business.  It's part of PayPal identity information.

Thanks for your reply, yeah I got that part, but I'm nowhere near the 20,000 etc..so why the need to block me,.I just cancelled ALL my eBay listings, I feel bad for the couple bidders that were on there currently, but I'm NOT a business,lol..these are my own thingsn.What happens if youare

PAYPAL wants to know you are you,whether you exceed the threshold for 1099 or not.

You are seling and you have gross receipts.  This makes you a business as it relates to PayPal use.

You either comply or not use PayPal.

A business sells things which the busness owns; you are seling things you own so that is what a business does.
