customize email receipts

Hi,

My product is an audiobook, and I need to add the personalized web address where the book resides to the paypal email receipt after the customer has paid. This seems like a simple thing, but I have no idea how to customize or change or add anything to the receipt. Any help or suggestions would be welcome. Thanks.

Are you selling your ebook on a website, if so which site are you using? Is it built on an e-commerce platform? There's an app called Spently that makes it easy to customize receipts in a number of ways (see: www.spently.com) Currently it's available to online stores built on Shopify (see: apps.shopify.com/spently) but will be made available to other platforms soon. With PayPal's Payment Standard, you really cannot customize the email receipt.  Normally after the purchase, the customer is redirected to page where they can download the product.  However, it takes a bit of programming on your side to make the process work.  You would need to use PayPal's IPN feature:

If coding is not your thing, another option would be to use a 3rd cart, for example, this one works well with PayPal.

Can this be done with any of the paypal platforms?

Payments Pro, with that product, you can do what you want.  You're just sending the credit card info for processing.
