Selling a car using PayPal?

There is a guy who has offered to buy my car at full price with PayPal on Craigslist and that he would have someone pick it up. I was extremely skeptical and found out about a scam with PayPal buying cars. I asked the same guy who texted me that he would either have to pay using PayPal and wait for the transaction to fall through and the cash to be transferred, or that he would have to pay in cash. He agreed without hesitation to pay with PayPal and wait for the transaction to fall through and now I am extremely hesitant because it still feels like a scam. Is it possible to scam me out of this if the transaction falls through?

Of course it's a scam!

You have no seller protection for selling a vehicle with PayPal funds.  So the buyer knows that a refund is a sure thing--for 6 months.  As a seller you have NO RECOURSE.

When delivery of anything to a non-buyer, it's a sign of a scam.

The only safe way to receive funds for selling a vehicle to a stranger is CASH, no exceptions.

However, if you accompany the buyer to the buyer's bank and that bank issues a certified check to you, it would also be OK.

Accepting a mail delivery of a certified check from a stranger is very high risk.

Yes there is NO SELLER PROTECTION on paypal for motor vehicles.

So even if he does pay (which i doubt as he will probably send spoof emails pretending to be paypal and saying you have been paid), then he could do a chargeback etc.

I would say cash on collection for whoever collects it.
