E-mail notifications, e-mail addresses

As of the beginning of February my e-mail notifications are addressed from "member@Paypal" rather than from my customer's e-mail addresses. What happened? This new change makes it difficult to keep track of my customer contact database. The 'add contact' feature of my e-mail (Windows Live Mail) is now worthless. I have now to manually check each new order to see if the customer is in my contacts list. I've looked but see no setting I can change to fix the issue. Thank you, Chris

There's no setting to change this new behavior, seems PayPal is trying to protect email addresses.  Don't think they really thought this thru.

Thanks for the reply. I just sent Paypal the same question/comment. We'll see what they have to say. Chris

That was fast! They replied that there isn't a way for me to change the setting, that I wasn't the only merchant complaining about it and that they would add my comments to the request to change the feature back. I just hope they do it soon! Chris

This is really messing up my system as well. All new payments come into Gmail threaded.  I need each individual payment email to stand alone. Is there someway to change this?

It's messed me up, too. I like to sned out an auto reply to let my customers know I received their payment and how much I appreciate their business. Now it gos to PayPal, not my customer, unless I catch it in the outbox and manually change it to my customer's email. It's a huge PITA!

So it's been 1 1/2 months now. This (still) **bleep**!

Does complaining to Paypal multiple times make a difference? Because I've only bothered to complain once so far.

Unfortunately you can complain until the cows come home however, the cows don't read the forum posts.  The Community Forum is just that, a place to vent or ask help from the public.  Most folks here are simply volunteers, not PayPal paid employees.  There are paid PayPal employees who monitor the fourm but, they as us can't resolve specific issues.  We (the volunteers) have multiple years of online business experience and can answer many questions.  But, there are some questions or comments that can't be resolved.

When I asked if complaining works I was actually talking about complaining directly to Paypal, not just here on the forums.

Since it's been almost two months I decided to write Paypal and ask if they were any closer to fixing the problem.

Bad news...

The reply I got:

"This is actually a permanent change to our PayPal notification system."

Silly forum filter bleeped my previous comment ("This (still) 'has suction'!") so I'll try a different one:

"That bites!"

Cheers,

Chris
