PayPal buyer protection is non existent!

I bought a pair of Christian Louboutin trainers. As soon as I opened the box I KNEW they were not authentic. Even the smell gave it away. I asked for a return on eBay but the seller wasn’t having any of it. So I opened a PayPal dispute. PayPal gave him 10 days to respond and after his response they sent me an email giving me just 3 days to prove the item wasn’t authentic! I called PayPal and complained and ‘‘tis was changed to 10 days. Had I not done that I would have lost the case and been stuck with a counterfeit item! I paid $70 to an American outfit called authentic first who confirmed that in fact the item was not authentic! Now PayPal want me to return the item at my own expense before I get a refund! So I’m left out of pocket to a tune of £80 because someone decided to sell counterfeit items!?? Why shouldn’t he be responsible for covering this cost!?? Why does payment leave it to buyers to prove authenticity if items that are clearly not authentic. Buyers have to go through lengths to prove an item is not authentic. Who pays for these services? I’ve just had to pay an authentication service $30 to prove an item which is clearly not authentic isn’t. Do I get compensated if I win the dispute!?? ... View more
