A few months ago I sold an expensive statuette on Ebay for $2,000 USD. Unfortunately, the item was broken in transit, thus the buyer contacted me for a refund. This is where things become complex. The buyer and I are requesting a damage claim from the courier company, and since the item was insured, we're expecting a compensation from them any day now. However, the buyer was quick on the draw and requested a refund via eBay as soon as he noticed the broken item. By that point, the payment had already gone through PayPal and is currently in my bank account, but now my PayPal balance is negative 2000$. If I redeposit the money into my negative PayPal account, is that money going to be refunded to the buyer? In simpler terms, is that how we refund things? Very sorry if this is badly written, for I do not know how to correctly word this complex situation.
