I am selling a sofa on Gumtree and I received a text message that I couldn't reply to. I t just said 'Hey Buddy, is the sofa still for sale?' and then an email address. I emailed him saying it was and I received this reply:
Thanks I’m ready to buy it but presently I’m off shore because I work
as marine engineer and there is no way I will be able to come for
pickup but I will arrange private courier that will pick it up on my
behalf, my mode of payment will be PayPal if you agree with my
proposal kindly get back to me with your PayPal email and full name
for payment or register one on www.paypal.com. Regards
Do you think this is a scam? I specified that I wanted to be in cash only and am worried that once he gets the sofa he might apply a chargeback. Has anyone else experienced this His name is Tomasz Scott
