my instagram account was first hacked today. I stupidly answered a phishing email from a fake instagram account. Next, a fake email was added to my paypal account. and then I was locked out of my paypal account. I can no longer log in and report the hacker. but I was able to call my banks and cancel all my credit cards as a precaution. no charges were made. i just want to share with you my stressful experience today. I have now made a new paypal account, because I have zero confidence that paypal will actually listen to my story and help me recover my old account. i have already emailed paypal and received a canned response about fake emails.
