Hello, PP Community. First time posting.
And with good reason. Briefly, since this is rather complicated. I'm a freelance writer here in NYC and last winter I did some work for a company called Jade Media, "owned" by someone named Hakan Ergulec. After claiming he sent me a wage check for around $2,000 (a check which never arrived), he "replaced" the check with two PayPal payments to me covering the amount. 15 days ago, I opened my PayPal account and was stunned to find that the two payments made to me (back in March!) by Jade Media were reversed, claiming they both were "unauthorized." This caused a negative balance on my account, resulting in hundreds of dollars (from other transactions) to now also be jammed up until this "dispute" is resolved.
I immediately called Ergulec who claimed to not know anything about this, blaming both his "accountant" and AMEX for the mistake, a mistake he said he would immediately correct. A few days later, he forwarded me an email he received from AMEX in which AMEX claimed the dispute on their end was now "closed." During these 15 days, I spoke with PayPal customer service who told me this could take anywhere from 30 to 75 days(!!) to resolve and return the money to my account.
Yesterday, for some strange reason -- 15 days after this bogus dispute hit my account -- the case no longer is in my Resolution Center, there are no "open cases", no "closed cases," and PayPal has hit me with $40 in chargeback fees. Leaving me nowhere but with a large negative balance. PayPal also sent me yesterday two emails letting me know that "the buyer has asked their financial institution to reverse the money for this transaction." (Hence the $40 in fees.) Again, 15 days after this bogus dispute already hit my account. PayPal also let me know that "we are disputing this case with your buyer's financial institution."
What the heck is going on here? Would appreciate any advice I can get from the PP community to get my wages returned to me ASAP.
Thank you,
Eddie
