Around Christmas time my e-Bay account was hacked and someone made a purchase for around $500. I had no money in my PayPal account so the funds were taken from my bank account which made it go negative $500. At the time, I wasn't sure who was supposed to handle this: My bank, PayPal, e-bay, all three? First thing I did was have e-Bay confirm I was hacked and they did, and then I called PayPal to pass on the information. PayPal was great about it and they put the $500 back into my PayPal account - which I then transferred BACK to my bank so make my bank account good again. During the time I was disputing the transaction, I had asked my bank to give my a provisional fund so that I wouldn't keep getting hit with overdraft fees while everyone did their investigations. So I had fixed my account and thinking "Well now I won't need the provisional funds since I transferred the money to my bank." Well it turned out my bank gave me the provisional fund and my bank account has had that $500 in it for a couple months now. I don't use PayPal often but I notice my account is limited now and there's two items it says I need to resolve: 1) Provide Proof of Delivery 2) Reimburse chargeback When I try to click the first option, there's no information listed there and even if there was I couldn't provide proof of delivery as whoever hacked my account sent the items to an address in another state. I never received the items and never made the charge in the first place so I don't know why that's even on there. For the reimburse chargeback, doesn't PayPal get that money back from the scammer's account? I don't see how they could be asking for a chargeback reimbursement unless they also had to pay my bank back too. I got a letter from my bank saying they decided in my favor and credited my account with the amount that was originally charged so I'm wondering who this money really belongs to. PayPal doesn't list my account as negative either but I know this money doesn't belong to me.
