I just had this happen and now I am so leary of buying from ebay. I never had anything like this occur in the past. All sellers have been very nice if I messed up. The situation is I purchased 2 linx cordless stick vacs from Hoover Outlet in the past and loved them. So when I saw the picture of a sale on them I was so excited and purchased 2 more. As soon as I clicked on the purchase button I told my daughter who was sitting right beside me doing something on her cell phone about it thinking she would want one herself. She quickly looked up and said "Mom, that says it's corded, not cordless." I panicked and with her help, immediately tried to cancel it every which way: through the seller, ebay, paypal, all to no avail. I'm talking about within minutes of hitting the purchase button. I explained the situation: that I didn't read the heading well, since I am a senior citizen who is legally blind and words are blurry and run together, so I go mostly by pictures. I was sure that the picture shown with it was of the cordless ones like I already have and wanted 2 more of.. So I went back to try to figure out how this had happened, but the picture had already been removed and now says image unavailable. After searching for it everywhere, I found my transaction history with the picture and printed it out. It was just what I thought, the image they were using that day for the corded and cordless vacs was exactly the same. There was no cord shown anywhere on the image I used to purchase the item. I did not get the one that was shown and I feel they were negligent and misleading by doing so. I have since received an email from the seller saying it could not be cancelled, and if I chose to refuse shipment, when it came, I would be responsible for all costs. They did not tell me what the costs would be. Of course if they are very high, I would probably be further ahead to just take the vacs and try to resell them, but I have never had much luck doing things like that and I need the money now to pay for them. I had no idea that something like this could happen and you could get stuck with an item this way. I think from now on I will just shop from honest, real stores, like Walmart or even Walmart.com, etc. where returns like this are never a problem. You have 90 days to take it back to the store for any reason, no matter where it came from and get a full refund. So much easier and less stressful for someone like me. I live on a very small Social Security check and cannot afford to be stuck in a situation like this, and be forced to pay for an item I didn't want. This gives a bad name to the good sellers on ebay and also the Hoover company from which I have purchased many products in the past. Has anyone else been caught in a mess like this and does anyone have any suggestions on how to get out of it? Does anyone know what costs they are talking about if I refuse the shipment?
