One day is enough time, because after you attempt to file a refund request, PayPal will not read or look at it whatsoever, but rather will send it to the seller and tell him that he has X number of days to answer it. After that, you have to even MANUALLY tell PayPal that his replies are not satisfactory (if they aren't)!! ....However, if the seller is an individual human being, who runs no business of any kind including those sort of "eBay pawn shop" things. He's just a guy selling 5 of his video games that he doesn't play anymore for example. In that case it's good to ensure that the maximum possible time is given if you are not homeless, "almost homeless", going to be charged a late fee on your rent tomorrow, or similar, because PayPal may abusively steal money from the seller merely because he has not seen the message yet or because PayPal has incorrectly designed a portion of their website to malfunction or etc. In fact, I am homeless, and when I sold an item for which mailing the item is not possible and was clearly marked as "pick up only" in the delivery section. PayPal decided to continuously show the same page over and over rather then actually send the refund to the user. Then the user files a case through the PayPal system and PayPal has again physically prevented the ability of "voluntarily refund customer" which I hit this button several times. PayPal and eBay were one company at this time, and PayPal and eBay collectively then steal extremely large amounts of money from me by sending a refund to this customer THREE TIME, sending her TRIPLE the amount that she actually paid me while also charging me an "eBay selling fee" regardless of the fact that voluntarily refunds WHICH I DID INDEED INITIATE are NOT to be charged any "selling fee", AND in addition the problem was HER fault because the item was correctly marked as "pick up only". As the item cost $20 and shipping glass would have cost $20 additional. They therefore literally stole more then $40, an extreme extreme extreme amount of money, FROM A HOMELESS PERSON, solely because they chose to incorrectly program their sites to prevent the ability to send refunds through the system that is implemented when "filing a PayPal case". ....Therefore, ALL POSSIBLE METHODS, text messages, repeated messages, waiting until the last day of PayPal's deadline or the last possible day before which not having this specific refund will cause emergency harm in your life, using search engines to attempt to find social media profiles, etc. etc. etc., is important before filing an "official" case against any INDIVIDUAL who is NOT A BUSINESS IN ANY WAY. So this means that this does NOT include "individual" eBay pawn shop owners, or "individual" Craigslist scammers who advertise their personal taxi service in the incorrect "rideshare" section where zero "fees" of any kind are acceptable because you are not in the "advertise your services to customers" section, or "individuals" who sell the leftovers from their Chinese factories for 80¢ each, somehow, etc. All of those are BUSINESSES for this purpose. All such people generally check their email at minimum once per day, and minimum like 20 times per day for all but the taxis, just like any other business. These people definitely have working accounts and phones and everything, and a lot of them even use those "business software spreadsheets" and etc. All of these businesses, a week is more then enough time because PayPal gives them an additional week or two and doesn't even automatically initiate it to themselves after that (anymore). But if it really is an individual who is simply selling a single item or a "single" five items or is moving. Then in that case please do every possible thing if you are able to because you have some kind of regularly-recurring paycheck and have no particular immediate emergency which you are currently short for, because they may be stealing large amounts of money from a homeless person (or just falsely putting negative points or stealing "fees" from anyone), in the case that the single individual simply does not check his email obsessively, or is in the hospital, or is currently waiting the 1-2 days per message that PayPal takes to not fix mechanical glitch in their system, etc. I would also not bother to sorry about this if it is an individual who was already obviously doing a purposeful scam from the beginning, such as sending you an item with several scratches, a stain, and one disconnected wire when the item was marked "brand new never opened".
