Thought I'd try here since no one seems to be answering on Twitter. A dispute has been opened on my account from a computer I sold ebay. The computer was made up of old parts that I had used in my old computer (CPU, RAM and Motherboard) and new parts to complete the computer that I was going to purchase if the item sold. When the item sold I went to purchase the extra parts required and built the computer ready to ship. The on the 4th December the buyer decided he wanted to cancel the order, normally I wouldn't have a problem with this but as I had already spent money item getting it ready to ship I said no and quoting that bids or auctions and buy it now items are binding and as I am a private seller I do not need to allow cancellations or returns. Shortly after replying to his cancellation message I get a message from Paypal saying he has opened a dispute however when I checked the dispute centre there was nothing there so I assumed he had opened it then thought better of it and closed it. So the next day on the 5th December I shipped the item to him using the ebay shutl shipping service. The the 7th December around midday the item arrived and shortly after I get return request saying he didn't want the item which again I politely point out ebays terms and decline the return. Than again on the 11th December I had a slightly odd request if I had the motherboard cd as he needed the drivers and do I foresee any problems with installing Windows 7 on the computer. I told him no I don't foresee any problems installing Windows 7 on it and sent the cd in the post along with the manual which I thought might be of use to him as well and sounded quite happy in his reply when I told him so. On the 12th I received an email from Paypal saying that the dispute he opened (the one that did not appear in the dispute centre when I checked) had been escalated, however I did not see the email until today 15th December, and that the payment for the item had been taken from my account (I had already taken the payment out of paypal into my bank) leaving my account in debit. When I checked the dispute (which is now appearing in the dispute centre it says "Internally Damaged" then in comments added on 11th December "Device is not connecting to wifi as described". This dispute was opened on the 4th December (before he had even received the item), how could he know the wifi was not working at the point? Also up until now this has not been mentioned in any correspondence between us, when I tested the computer before shipping I had no problem connecting to the wifi network here. I have contacted the buyer again today asking if he was happy and if he could close the dispute but I have not heard from him yet. I really want to know what to do next. This has caused me significant stress especially having my paypal account with such a big negative balance that I can't afford to pay back, if I knew this was going to be such a big problem I would never have sold the item in the first place and has made me seriously reconsider selling on ebay from now on. Sorry for the wall of text but I don't know what else to do.
