Over six months ago I bought tickets for an event from an individual, the event was last week and because of the waiting period the seller who was selling on Facebook scammed me of over £1,000 , the individual asked me to paypal via 'friends and family' which is the gift option apparently  Anyway, I phone Paypal who states nothing can be done, this seems a nice little way for scammers to steal your money and to also remain anonymous .   I've lost a substantial amount of money and the representative on the phone couldn't care less, won't open a dispute and says the police won't get involved as its a civil matter, I have read a few sellers and buyers posts about how Paypal protect the scammers and ignore anything from Police when  documents are sent, ridiculous. ... nt  I sold someone online a high priced item and they paid me via Friends and Family via Paypal. I sent the individual the item but they refuse to believe me as a month on it's still not been received, I didn't send it tracked or get proof of postage but this person is now harassing me.   They have my home address , and social media details because of my Paypal email and they are threatening me everyday with the Police.   My question is will the Police get involved in this matter? I'm panicking that they are going to turn up at my door about this. The individual didn't even express what they were paying for in the description when payment was sent.   Sick to my stomach about this, can someone tell me if Paypal will give my details to the Police or am I worrying for no reason? ... I sold someone an item for a substantial amount of money, this was arranged outside of E-bay - the individual in question is in the same country as me  and paid me via the friends and family option. Over a month on the individual in question is stating I never sent the item out, though I did. The individual was asked if they wanted the item tracked but they said no and I refused to do it and cost myself financial loss by sending it has it was a heavy item.   Long story short , the person is now threatening me with the Police and saying they are going to report me for theft cause they sent payment as friends and family and they can't get a refund now via Paypal. What are my options?   I will also say the individual in question never stated what they were paying for when payment was sent so there word against mine and all that... ... View more

A few years ago i paid an individual £1,200 for an instagram account using the friends and family option and I've been trying to get my money back .   The payment was done as friends & family which at the time I didn't know was a 'GIFT' payment, the transaction was arranged via Facebook so I had all the emails and correspondence from the individual who later scammed me. I had there name and paypal email.   I've been told previously that nothing can be done by a certain modertator on here, I just wonder could the Police help? I contacted a paypal representative who said if the police contacted them , they could get the details of the individual to them directly. Is that possible? ... View more

Does anyone know whether or not law inforcement get involved in Paypal matters? I paid an individual a huge amount of money a few years ago - $1,500 to purchase an item, but sent the payment as friends and family which I've now been told is a 'GIFT' payment by mistake and Paypal won't help. At a loss of what to do....    ... View more

Basically a few years ago I got in touch with a seller on Gumtree who was selling a car online. This was going to be a gift for my son. I found a great deal for a second hand one for £1,500 - Before I purchased I met up with the buyer 30 minutes away from where I lived, we chatted and he showed me the car etc . He said he accepted Paypal , he was from Newcastle and we agreed the price. He asked me to transfer funds on my return via friends and family , he stated it would save fees etc and that once done he would ring me and deliver the car the very next day, well I transfered the funds over and he phoned me and confirmed everything was fine and then the next day he would deliver the car, I stayed in all day and nothing, I phoned the mobile went dead....   I've been contacting Paypal for ages trying to get my money back which they refuse to do, the bank I sent payment from wouldn't  deal with me either to reclaim my funds. What can be done about this? ... View more

Few years ago I bought tickets for justin bieber for my sister, saved for months and sent a seller at the time $1,000 dollars. I stupidly paid via friends and family. And didn't acknowledge it was for anything, I didn't even state what the money was for in the description. Can the authorities look into this for me? It's a huge amount of money and it still haunts me to this day.   ... View more
