At this level, yes, Misc. Income on the 1040 would be fine. If you really want to maximize your deductions and offset income from another job, though, you'll need the Schedule C. It's not an invitation for audit unless you're doing things illegitimately. If you are doing things legitimately and you do get audited, then you just provide the basic info they're asking for and you'll be done with it. Audits really aren't a big deal unless you've been doing something wrong or have been trying to hide something. Again, though, at the level you're at now you may need to go that far with it. If you're going to treat this thing like a business going forward, though, I'd highly recommend the Schedule C (and if you ever get to $30k+ you'd be better off as an S-Corp / LLC s-election).
