This is not something Paypal is interested in doing, as the same question has been asked since 2014. Adding a nickname would make identifying bank accounts so much easier, but making the site easier to use is obviously not a high priority for Paypal. For me, this is just another disincentive to use Paypal, as it adds frustration to transferring money out of Paypal.
