Hi Sumiko, Thanks for your advice... You would be absolutely right if the customer would have filed a claim for "non-received" item. But -in this particular case, "unauthorized order"- PayPal should have asked the buyer to explain the several contacts she had with us (two calls one week before placing the order and another three calls the day after the purchase). We don't have the customer's credit card (or her financial information), and the order was placed thru PayPal. PayPal has the resources to trace orders to its origin and take legal actions against these scammers. Unfortunately, there is not financial gain for PayPal in pursuing the truth, so it is just easier (but wrong) to let honest sellers take the loss. I don't know if you get paid for defending PayPal, or you are just a lawyer for whom the moral aspect of social behavior is secondary to the legal aspect. Either way, your expert advice is based on a wrong premise. I already took my first step in filing a complaint (against PayPal) with the BBB. I don't hold high expectations from the BBB since I heard a big fish from PayPal sits in the BBB's board, but it's alright. I believe is PayPal who needs to be more proactive against scammers. It is extremely easy to open a claim for any reason, and yet, it extremely hard to appeal PayPal decision. If the scammer wins the case, the buyer is also penalized with a fee.  However, if the scammer loses, well he doesn't lose anything. I just lost a case in which a customer purchased a physical product and asked me for local pick up/delivery since she lived near my house.  A couple of weeks later, she filed an unauthorized purchase claim.  Despite providing PayPal proofs of (my telephone bill) showing several calls from the customer's phone, PayPal decided in the customer's favor.  I want to take this case to the court, and if PayPal does not cooperate, I might even take legal action against PayPal.  I know many sellers have been victims of the same fraud, and we are all frustrated the way PayPal handles these frauds.  If anyone is willing to start a class action, please, let me know. ...
