Unfortunately this is my second issue this week, this one is much more serious ($300 item). I ordered some CDs/DVDs from a business in Melbourne, Australia. It is a business that is shipping these items to people all over the world. Mine was sent on May 16 and for some reason went to New York first (I live in the Los Angeles area), then to Los Angeles. Tracking showed it in a sorting facility and then said it was both "in transit" and delayed. The item has been stuck in this status for two weeks now. I have been to the post office three times, I have filed a missing mail report, I have contacted the seller for advice/help, and the thing just appears to be lost. It does not show as ever going through customs and I've been told that maybe it's stuck there, but someone I know who ordered the same item showed me their tracking history and it shows the item going into customs and coming out in just a day. Making the situation more sticky is that I preordered the item Feb. 16, so my 180 day limit for disputing the charge is over halfway past. It appears the post office may have lost this thing but I have no recourse with them, I would have to file the dispute with the company. They sent the item First Class International which means no insurance, but I wasn't given a choice on how they would ship it. They have proof of sending but no proof of delivery (a signature will be required if it ever arrives). I guess this is a long winded way of asking if I have a shot at reimbursement if an item was sent and the post office lost it? Thanks.
