Yesterday my Mother was taken by a scammer using a PayPal account. Here is how it happened... She went to her Discover Card site to pay a bill, her computer froze up. Then, a blinking window opened on her screen, and she said she could hear people in the background as some man told her that he was a technician, she had gotten a virus, and they could unfreeze and clean her system for $149.99. My mother fell for it. She paid them and allowed remote access to the system and so forth. From what I understand these folks are affiliated with the criminal site ammyy.com and logmein.com. I reported this activity to the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center and tried contacting PayPal regarding the matter but the procedures and wait for agents is ridiculous so here I am. My mother does not have a PayPal account and used a credit card for her transaction. The PayPal Invoice emailed to shows in the Description - Software Assistance. So, just by chance some guy named Jxx Hxxxxxx happened to contact my mother via her PC while this was happening. I think they call it RANSOMWARE.
I hope this person get what is due them for **bleep** people, senior citizens out of their money.
Her credit card bank has been notified for dispute, a complaint filed for Internet Crime, and then there is this, looking for some advice on who to contact, or how to file anything with PayPal, and how to put a shyster out of business on PayPal.
