I know this is a few years later, but I cannot let this be said without stating the fatcs hear me out. I'm just like the person who wrote it, no bank account, no "real credit card'. Just a prepaid card, when we given our social, and our name, you atre issues a REAL debit card in about a week. This is the part that baffles me. Original POSTER said they cannot afford the fee, now it's $4.95, but you get UNLIMITED tranactions. Excella's plan is $9.99 month unlimited, or $1 per tranaction. The poster said the cheap $495 free would somehow mess up his bill paying, Paypal takes the 4.95 FEE at the same date every month. Also a GREAT bonus, amazing feature, you can transfer money from your PAYPAL to the Paypal card with INSTANT transfer FREE of charge. Now, most people who pay bills online know to pay a few days in advance, because hey a card can get lost stolen. You know we get an email alert, when a BILL NEEDS to be paid, you have a cell phone or email.. there is NO reason to say you dont use paypal because of the FEE, PLUS unlike most cards it can bed used internationally. Now say you pay your bill 2 days early (everyone does, and should), they usually use a bank to protect them from overdraft, guess if you over draft.. $35 FEE. Let's be realistic here, if you get an alert two days in advance, heck even you can GO online to every company to SET an alert letting you know the DUE date is coming up, you can get a daily reminder 3 days in adance, every day ... until you make a payment. YOU know what your bills are every month, you see the email.. or directly to the website.. you KNOW how much you owe... if you know there's a VERY fair $4.95 free why not just put an extra $5 in wshen you load the card to pay baills? THis makes absolutely NO sense whatsoever. ONtop of that, lets say you dont put the $4.95 fee.. by mistake (can happen to add the $5,mistakes made all the time.) you freely go only paypal and or call 800# or simply text them and they tell you your balance. Everytime you make a purchase they TEXT you your balance. There is NO way $4.95 FEE which is VERY good for UNLIMITED purchases, plus you buy international where 90% dont allow it and ONTOP of that they charge a 3-5 % FEE. EVEN simpler say day they take $4.95 and a few days later the company ay verizion.. whatever you know utilities, if they make an attempt when the DATE is DUE you WILL get an alert from the utulity via text and email. YOU will ALSO get a text from Paypal saying transaction was declined you dont have enough to pay. I mean they make it so simply say whatever the amount is that getsb declined, you can easily ask a friend to send money(simple request from friend for the amount, then it goes into paypal AUTOMATICALLY then you can do instant transfer, and pay the bill.. how hard is that? If you set up email/text alert with the companies you pay monthly, you can EASILY tell them to charge you TWO days EARLY (on any BILL). (You know you can pay a BILL before the DUE date). That's how they make their fortunes, people forgetting or and waiting till the last day and they get you. I mean how much simpler can you get, put alerts for 2 days notice, OR simply PUT $5 a month added when you load, I truly dont understand, why you think 4.95 is HIGH, excella $1 per transcation, Net spend pretty much the same, you cant UNLIMITED trancastions.. $9.99, compared to $4.95 do that math. YOU stated you pay your BILLS so youre using this card quite a few times... the 4.95 is a BARGAIN for UNLIMITED.  EVEN worst case sceanrio, a friend can't send you $5 ( mean you did sate 4.95 free you cannot afford because it might mess up a tranasction for insufficent funds. WORST case is you get a prepaid card and add it your paypal account and transfer the small "$5 monthly fee". HOw simple is that? Also the convience of paypal when you purchase on ebay and other merchants, PROTECTS you for a certain amount, most online places take paypal (if they are legit) say they dont allow paypal, you CAN still use that Paypal master card to make the purchase, some places dont do paypal, thats fine either way you're covered.  Ontop of that they are very good at stopping scams, the NEW scam people do and please be aware of this (prepaid OR real card). The thieves make a tiny charge anywhere from .37 cents to $8. if it gets approved, they know its a legit # and they can make attempts to BUY on the card, PAYPAL kills about 95% of the fraud, WAY higher rate than the credit card companies.. bill comes up.. the day before card is lost stolen, they will next day or second day air you a NEW one, guess what, you just missed your payment because ALL funds are frozen. So when you try to pay your utility bill, guess what, you're **bleep**. Think they card your card was STOLEN or lost? They charge you a FEE, and by the time they "solve" this case, they ask you to mark the items you're disputing..then mail it back and they "eat up the cost". Yes you will get your money back.  My point is if you know your BILLS are $450, just put $455 in cmon man. AND even better since theres NO cash ON there, the thieves CAN'T do squate because the money is gone you only have the MONEY you loaded. NOTHING for them to take correct?   The ONLY way the $4.95 would not be is if you pay (1) bill thats it one bill.. and that costs you a DOLLAR. IF thats the case yes you save $3.95, bu8t you clearly stated you have BILL(s).    REalize, just like me, yes when you call after 10/11 PM to report a card lost stolen, and there's NO one to talk to, yeah maybe they're cheap.. its a prepaid. BUT since they give you the option to go to paypal/prepaid.. you CAN report is LOST or STOLEN immediately.   This post makes no sense, c'mom man.. $5.. breaks you? How do you have all these bills you pay, if you cant afford $5. Get a GRIP my friend.   Also realize, and Im in the same boat. you either are afraid of getting a REAL credit card because you know they rip you off, and thats good because you only "Pay in cash" what you CAN BUY, or you cannot get credit due to not paying bills. (Not to put you down, hey crap happens). This is the absolutely BEST option, honestly, even if you asked me to choose between a TRUE master card or a reloadable paypal Master card, its a no brainer.. people can't STEAL what  you don't have.    I hope this has helped you, I do realize this was a few years ago, but ive been using them for quite a few years, this is THE GO TO card Hands down (prepaid that is ), **bleep** real ones, they prey on suckers, at least they cant sucker you in!   Good luck, sorry for the LONG LONG rant, but have to say something when the topic is 100% not true and offbase, I gain NOTHING by posting this except, maybe helping you and a few others. Remember... NO company is OUR friend, they're hear to make a PROFIT.  ... View more
