Okay... Thank you for the advice! It's all just so weird to me. Never have had this happen before. Not complaining if I get to keep the funds though, haha. Just wouldnt want to scam the buyer in question even though they claimed to never have had any funds taken out of their account. You'd figure someone would be able to notice right away if any amount of money was missing from their account with no explanation. Will see what happens then.. ... View more

Amount of money appearing in my account?

Hello, I have a concern regarding an amount of money sitting in my PayPal account that seems to have come from nowhere. I was selling some things on eBay for the first time (bidding) and ended up canceling the transaction before the buyer could make a payment. (I was not happy with the winning bid amount.) After I canceled the order, a few munites passed by and I received a notification saying the buyer had paid and I had the ok to ship the item. Well, I never received any type of payment from the buyer and every time I went to check the status of the transaction, it said that the order was indeed canceled. I checked my PayPal account and everything, no money from anyone. So a month passed by, mind you, i had not heard anything from the buyer since the transaction was canceled, and I just recently logged into my PayPal account only to find to my surprise a payment in the amount from the canceled transaction on eBay deposited into my account. I contacted eBay to make sure the buyer hadn't made a payment or if it actually did go through the first time and they flat out told me "no, you have no records of ever receiving any payments from any buyer on your account" and basically told me to just disregard the canceled transaction that was marked as "paid" on my account. So I go ahead and contact PayPal next to see if it was an error in their system or something and the representative I spoke with told me that yes, I had indeed received payment from the buyer and I simply needed to refund him through my account. So after that, I contacted the buyer before making any refunds to ask if they had ever made a payment and if it went through on their end and they responded back within an hour letting me know that they never had any funds taken out and that the order was in fact canceled and everything was okay on their end. So... what should I do about the random amount of money that got credited to my account? Should I call PayPal back and request them to take the funds out? Don't get me wrong, I would love to keep that extra cash in pocket, ha! Its not like it was a huge amount of money either, but I wouldnt want to get in trouble if that money turned out to be money from PayPal and then later on have them come down on me for it. I'm just confused as why or where that amount of money came from. EBay says their records show no payment history ever made from that buyer to my account, PayPal says the buyer did indeed send payment, and buyer says they were never charged anything to their account. What should I do?? ... View more
