Thank you for the question, Tenzin2.  How a refund is appropriated to your account is dependent upon how the payment was originally made:   - If a payment was made through a direct draw from your bank account, or eCheck, the refund should be made available in your PayPal balance once PayPal receives the money from your bank. - If a payment was made using a credit or a debit card, the money is sent back to that card.  Typically, this process can take anywhere from 3-5 days, dependent upon the card issuer. - If a payment is made using PayPal Credit, the money is sent back to PayPal Credit.  The same 3-5 day time frame would apply here as well.   I hope this information helps.  Thank you for using PayPal.   - Travis ... That's a great question, dada1111.  PayPal typically treats the return process very similar to that of an in-store purchase.  For example, if I were to buy a lamp, take it home, plug it in and find out it doesn't work, I would have to return the lamp to the store in order to receive a refund.  The store would not reimburse me for my time, energy, gas, or any other costs associated with the return.  Our online return process works out in the same manner.   However, we know that it isn't a one-to-one example.  Some online merchants cover the cost of return, but most don't.  That's why we've launched the Returns On Us program.  This program helps buyers, such as yourself, return products to their sellers at a discounted cost, and sometimes free.  Please visit the page https://www.paypal.com/returns for additional information regarding this program.   Thank you for reaching out for help.  I hope you have a great day. 🙂 - Travis ... Thank you for the question, Aveline1.  The payment may be pending for a variety of reasons.  The two most common reasons would be if the email address used was incorrect, or the recipient doesn't normally take payments in that currency.  In either situation, it would be a fairly simple and straight-forward process for the recipient to claim the payment.   As for the best way to reach out to us, I'd be happy to help with that as well.  In order to find the phone number for our customer service, please click the 'Help & Contact' link at the bottom of any PayPal page.  From there, you can click the option to call customer service to find our number.   I hope this information helps, and I hope you have a great day. 🙂 - Travis ... Hi kixpham -    If you haven't received your item or the item you received doesn't match the original product description we have a dispute process to help you and your seller resolve the issue in a friendly way. When possible, you should always try contacting your seller before disputing a payment through PayPal. You have up to 180 days after you sent the payment to file a dispute. Here's how to open a dispute: Log in to your PayPal account. Click Resolve a problem in our Resolution Center near the bottom of the page. Click Resolution Center. Click Dispute a Transaction. Select the date range for the transaction you want to dispute. Click the radio button beside the date of the transaction you want to dispute, then click Continue. Select the reason for your dispute, and then click Continue. After you open a dispute, you have 20 calendar days to communicate with the seller before the dispute automatically closes. If you can't resolve the problem, you can ask us to investigate by escalating your dispute to a claim. Here's how to escalate a dispute to a claim: Log in to your PayPal account. Go to the Resolution Center by clicking on the bell icon beside "Log out". Click View next to the dispute you want to escalate. Click Escalate this dispute to a PayPal claim near the bottom of the page. Follow the instructions and click Escalate to a claim. We will contact you if we need additional information. We will try to make a decision within 30 days. 🙂   - Travis ... View more

Click Wallet at the top of the page. Click the bank you want to remove. Click Remove Bank. However, if these steps don't work, you may have a pending transaction or another action within your account preventing you from removing the bank account from your profile.  In that case, give us a call, and we'd be happy to help out.   - Travis ... Hi alex_andre -   Welcome to the PayPal Community!   I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble making a payment. I know this issue happens from time to time, and it's never ideal. But thank you for posting here about the issue.   A payment may not be completed for a number of reasons. The most common troubleshooting tips to have a payment process are listed here. If you've tried these steps and the payment still isn't going through, I would recommend contacting PayPal directly as the specific reason would be easier to discern over the phone.   Thank you again for joining us! We're glad to have you!   - Travis ... View more

Hi tigerman511  - Welcome to the PayPal Community.  We're glad to have you! Whenever you make a payment using your PayPal account, the money is typically instantly available to the seller.  In the rare circumstance that this isn't true, as DPCreations said, it's nothing to be concerned about.  PayPal routinely takes steps or has processes in place to make sure we're the safest method of online payments available. Some sellers are eligible for what are called Payment Holds.  This is a program PayPal created for sellers who are new, infrequent, or maybe need a little help in establishing good selling practices.  So long as the payment shows "Completed" in your transaction details as the buyer, you've done everything you need to do to receive the item and/or service you've paid for.  If for any reason the seller fails to send you the product, or provide you the service, you would be welcome to file a dispute in the PayPal Resolution Center. Again, thank you for joining the Community! - Travis ... View more

Re: Negative Balance

Hi Mangerines -   Welcome to the community!   When making a purchase using PayPal, PayPal will typically charge your balance as a primary source of payment. In the event that a sufficient balance is not available, we will use a bank account or credit card to fund the purchase. You can find additional information about payment sources here.   For transactions that have been made using a bank account, in the event that the payment fails, this will create a negative balance in PayPal. PayPal will try to reattempt this payment until the negative balance has been resolved. However, PayPal does not charge any insufficient funds fees (NSF) to your account for a failed payment or for having a negative balance.   Hope this helps,   - Travis ... View more

Hi Everybody -   I'm Travis.  I think that's right, but some days I'm not so sure...   While I'm new to the forums, I've been using PayPal since '06, working at PayPal since '11 and am happy to meet everyone since always.  While I'm not here on the computer, I'm generally at home on the computer, playing video games, or messing around on my phone.    Oh, oops... I mean, when I'm not at work I'm spending time with my loving and adoring family, all of whom are the center(s) of my life.  I have a wife and three kids who keep me fairly busy between yard work, soccer games, dance practice, etc.   Anyway, thank you for reading through this highly informative, and life changing  post!   Winter Is Coming -   Travis ...
