My son is in college, has a checking acct with a debit card. I am on his account and he says because of that issue, Paypal wants a copy of his actual social security card, to establish his identity! He is trying to create his own Paypal account. I never had to give my social, ever! This sounds fishy to me. He also said because I receive all the banking statements at home and he's at a different location, that they need to establish his identity! He has a driver's license, birth certificate, mail with his name/address on it, etc. I am extremely concerned and refused to give this to him. Why are they doing this? Thank you.
