I fail to see how this is a positive experience.  The merchandise wasn't what you wanted/didn't fit/was unacceptable for some reason, so you received stuff you can't use, and you only have a percentage of what you paid for it plus the cost of shipping (the US return address is new--I was not offered that option).  This sounds like an abusive relationship to me. ... My credit card company initially refunded the cost of the purchase, but I have received another letter from them saying that Lulugal is disputing this because I did not return the dress.  I am, of course, preparing my rebuttal on the grounds that 1) the item was significantly not as described; and 2) the cost of returning it would be more than the purchase price.  While I do not expect to win this, I can at least cause Lulugal a bunch of administrative headaches as long as they keep fighting me on it.   Someone on Facebook posted something about a company called "StyleWe."  After looking at their website and--this time--reading online reviews, I said "I think this is Lulugal under another name."  Be warned, my friends. ... The Better Business Bureau does not accept complaints against non-US companies, but you can file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission:  https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/GettingStarted?NextQID=251&Url=%23%26panel1-2#crnt While it might not accomplish a great deal by submitting online reviews, doing so helps to warn other people about this iniquitous company, and it's also very cathartic.  Here are some links: https://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/www.lulugal.com http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/lulu-gal-poor-quality-unethical-behavior-c829697.html http://www.scamadviser.com/check-website/lulugal.com#box-comment https://www.facebook.com/groups/ifitstoogoodtobetrue/permalink/931798720300311/ https://www.trustpilot.com/review/lulugal.com ... Yes, hindsight can offer a certain amount of clarity that the immediate moment might lack.  I regularly purchase clothes online, but generally from the same 3-4 companies.  This was a rare foray outside the known and familiar; if nothing else, it has been a powerful learning experience. ... Although it's been so long ago that I don't remember for sure, I think I started using Paypal when I began making the occasional purchase from eBay, and I believe I did so either because that's what the sellers preferred or because I thought not giving sellers my credit card number directly was prudent.  Now I have it set up so that a couple of recurring donations every month go from Paypal. but I'm that there might be other ways of doing that.   Interesting that my fury about this Lulugal situation has led me to think that I might be better off without Paypal. ... My sense has been that Paypal provides an extra layer of protection against identity theft, not that I have much of an identity to steal.  That might be changing, since--with the exception of your good selves--Paypal has not been particularly helpful here. ... View more

When this arose and as I was discussing it on Facebook, a friend of mine said that she had placed an order in October and still--as of just before Christmas--had not received it.  She was actually able to get someone at Paypal on the phone (an apparently arduous process) and, to her surprise, Paypal refunded her payment.   Resolving these issues should not be this hard. ... Maddening, isn't it?  Sure, I received the item after hounding Lulugal for weeks, but the dress is significantly not as described and it does not fit. At this point I'm wondering what the point of Paypal is, since they seem to be of little help.  If I am able to file a claim with my card issuer--and I can, and I have--why do I need Paypal? ... They caught me in a weak moment; I am normally much more suspicious.  The ad showed up on Facebook and I thought "Oooh, great-looking dress!"   That will not happen again. ... View more
