Hi all, Hoping someone can help, because PayPal are not. We sold an item from Gumtree for a few hundred pounds, and received payment through PayPal, thinking it would all be fine if the buyer turns out to be less than decent. We sent the item via myHermes to the address she gave us, which was her parent's address as she wouldn't be home, but the mother would be at her house. This is not the address or name registered to PayPal, and the transaction was paid by a name that wasn't recognised, but was in the same general location. We thought having proof she wanted it sent to someone else's house would be fine. Apparently not. Although we got fully tracked delivery, provided proof of pickup by the courier and delivery by myHermes, the buyer stated she didn't receive it, opened a dispute and despite us giving PayPal all the information, including representing our fears about changing stories from the buyer, which included "the courier must have stolen it because he saw the box", although the buyer didn't know it was a manufacturer's box, it could have been plain, no-one ever said that, nor was it on the listing. So my question is, why are PayPal outright refusing to help a seller that has close to 500 eBay feedback, has NEVER once had a problem that wasn't resolved and why they are essentially acting as accessories to fraud? ActionFraud have stated they are taking the case as it appears I have been a victim of online fraud, and PayPal were made aware during the appeal that is currently in progress, but from speaking to them on the phone, it's my fault for not sending to the PayPal address. ActionFraud have advised me to take court action against PayPal, courier and buyer as at least one is responsible. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated 🙂
