I got the email too and agree that this is terrible timing. I have two in college and can't understand why PayPal would address this so coldly as via email to loyal, long term customers like myself. There is nothing on the Pay Pal site and no other coverage about this decision, simply an email received with no explanation. So many times , over the years, this card was a life saver and I was able to assist my children and grandchildren who were stranded without gas money or lunch money or other personal needs and it was a great tool to help teach them about managing money and budgeting. I also used it for gift giving and to help with incidental college related costs. Why, right at the start of the new school year, would PayPal do this with no warning or explanation, and to use email as the way to communicate such an important change? . Some of my kiddos used this card for their ITunes accounts or to fund other small recurring costs which require the user to link a debit or credit card. This is more than an inconvenience and I am disappointed not only with the decision, but also with the way it was handled. There is one other option I know of, called the VISA BUXX card, but there are fewer funding options with that card and less flexibility and more fees. Shame on you PayPal for how you handled this.
