My story is long and drawn out so I'll try to simplify it. I have been using PayPal for over 10-12 years, across 3 different accounts. I ran a great deal of funding through there system while I've ran my freelance web and app development business. I've also used their PayPal debit/credit card that entire time. Long-story short I used them for everything throughout that entire period of time. Well... business has always been good through PayPal. A typical month would be around 5-6k. I always used PayPal also to pay all my developers and bills. Either way they got fee payments for every single thing I did, because I've used them for so long and for everything. I even repeatedly used their working capital loan over and over again across three accounts. I had a great account history. Very few charge backs on any of my accounts, and every charge back was resolved correctly. I've never had issues managing my accounts and keeping them current and all issues resolved. My charge back ratio was also very small. I barely ever had any and always they were sorted out. Any clients who did a charge back and lost, I always tried to follow-up with and still make them happy. Anyway... 10+ year customer, very low charge back rate, never had anything that wasn't resolved and ran everything through PayPal. I was a model PayPal customer. Business slowed down a lot this year and I ended up getting almost bankrupt. Things slowed down a great deal and I wasn't able to manage my own bills or expenses. Then suddenly I had a huge income boost come in from a few new clients, and started funding more money back into advertising. Long story short, I ended up gaining a huge income boost. It wasn't way more than anything I had ever had before, but was a welcome change after business slowed down. Well all was great. I was getting caught up and business was good. Then suddenly PayPal representative called me on a Saturday (last Saturday). He acted like he was my friend and we had a pleasant conversation about my business, how it was going, upcoming work and so forth. I was surprised but still polite and spoke with him as I honestly thought I was a satisfaction survey or some kind of customer checkup to make sure I Was happy. Then at the very end he comes out and says, well I have to put a reserve on your account for 31,000. I flipped out of course and we argued for a long time, then argued with his supervisor. When that was all over they basically ended the conversation telling me there was nothing they could do. Within an hour of that call they did the following. - Put a reserve on my account for 61,000 (double what he originally said). - Froze 4000 that I had in my account which I no longer have access to anymore - Locked up all 3 of my accounts so I can't even run my EBay business on my main account anymore at all. Now they did all this for no reason besides they felt I was a "risk". A 10+ year account holder, with 3 accounts that have never had any issues hardly, at least none that were not resolved. They called it' Risk Assessment" and said it was in case all my clients decided to go psycho and do a bunch of charge backs at once. I've barely ever had any charge backs and always resolved them when I've had them. So... I called them back Sunday and spoke to someone else. She said it was crappy the way they treated me and appealed it or escalated to have it re-reviewed by someone in risk assessment. All week I called about 6-7 tiems and got no luck until they finally responded and declined my request to give me my funds, and to remove the restriction. I can live with the "reserve" on my account.. but I am at a moment where I could be evicted and lose my car, and the money I need to get caught up is sitting in my PayPal account I can't get access to. On top of that, I spoke to one of my best clients. He told me PayPal called him directly and got very nosy about a project we were working on together. One that is very sensitive as well as under NDA. So not only did my client tell them to mind their own business, he was worried about me being as reliable as I had told him because he had never had that happen. They called him and interrogated him about a project and I Had to spend 2 hours on the phone calming down one of my best and biggest clients because their "call" made him have concerns about me and the project. I had to explain to them that I was a random target of this and had to show him my account history and charge back history and give him a lot of reviews. Me and him are good now but I had to go out of my way to prove to him I was reliable after that random call from the same representative. Also at the end of the conversation the PayPal rep I talked to was extremely rude, which is the main reason things led into an argument. I don't know what to do. I've been on the phone with them at least 10 times, including even now as I write this. 46 minute phone call across 3 representatives.
